<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a desulfurization apparatus which can be more efficiently operated by efficiently removing deposited matters which are formed in a vapor condensation apparatus in the desulfurization apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: In the desulfurization apparatus where gases 50 to be treated containing H<SB>2</SB>S or the like are subjected to desulfurization treatments using an absorption liquid 40, deposited matters adhering in the vapor condensation apparatus 3 for cooling gases such as H<SB>2</SB>S and vapor from a regeneration column 2 are removed using the absorption liquid 40 supplied from an absorption liquid-supplying apparatus 5 or the regeneration column 2. Preferably, the absorption liquid 40 is used for removing the deposited matters in a heated state.
