PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus with which a user can feel better reproducibility in comparison with photographing of only a moving picture or only a still picture because the imaging apparatus can continuously photograph the still picture and the moving picture by a very simple and natural operation and match a point of time of starting still picture photographing or moving picture photographing with a point of time of shutter full depression, resulting in precluding the possibility of losing a desirably photographed scene, and the imaging apparatus can utilize an high definition image of a first scene in the case of reproducing the moving picture and enables the user to view the succeeding scene in a form of the moving picture in the case of reproducing the still picture. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus continuously carries out moving picture photographing by a moving picture photographing function in succession to still picture photographing by a still picture photographing function in response to an instruction of an operation circuit.
