PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring instrument which prevents necessary data, a maximum value and a minimum value for example, from disappearing, even if momentary service interruption or the like occurs. SOLUTION: If power interruption is detected, the necessary data, the maximum value and the minimum value for example, are written for protection in a nonvolatile storage or the like which does not require power for storage and retaining. Moreover, before writing the maximum value and the minimum value, the maximum value and the minimum value are compared with a maximum value and a minimum value having been written in the storage medium, necessity for the writing is judged, and by preventing unnecessary writing, the life of the storage medium such as a nonvolatile storage is extended.
