PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately derive the surface solar reflectance of an existing coated object, of which the solar reflectance has been computed by matching its hue in a book of color samples for reference of Japan Paint Manufacturers Association, Inc. and measuring the spectral reflectance of its color, since spectral reflectance cannot be measured and cutting has been impossible. SOLUTION: Color cards of which the solar reflectances are clear is mounted to the surface of an old building, and the surface temperatures of the existing coated object and the color cards of which the solar reflectances are clear are measured at the same time. On the basis of the solar reflectance of a reference card, having surface temperature most approximate to that of the existing coated object, the approximate reflectance of the existing coated object is derived.
