PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve machinability of a connecting rod so as to be machinable by a small machine tool and to improve assembling property of the connecting rod in a small end connecting structure and an assembling method for the split connecting rod. SOLUTION: A small end 68 is integrally formed with a fastening shaft part 134 formed with an external thread 135 and projected from the small end 68 so to be connected to a rod part 111. The rod part 11 is provided with an end face 126 abutting on the small end 68; a through hole 127 opened in the end face 126 to insert the fastening shaft part 134; and an aperture part 123 to which the end of the through hole 127 is opened. The fastening shaft part 134 of the small end 68 is thereby inserted in the through hole 127 of the rod part 111, and a fastening nut 114 is screwed with the external thread 135 of the fastening shaft part 134 projected into the aperture part 123, so as to generate predetermined axial force.
