PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a benzofuran derivative that exhibits antagonism to adrenalineα<SB>2</SB>receptor, especially adrenalineα<SB>2C</SB>receptor and is useful for preventing and/or treating diseases derived from hyperfunction of adrenalineα<SB>2C</SB>or its salt. SOLUTION: The benzofuran derivative is represented by formula (I) (R<SP>1</SP>is a hydrogen atom or a substituted or nonsubstituted lower alkyl; R<SP>2</SP>is a substituted or nonsubstituted aryl or a substituted or nonsubstituted heterocyclic group; R<SP>3</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>are each the same or different and a hydrogen atom, a substituted or nonsubstituted lower alkyl, a substituted or nonsubstituted cycloalkyl, a substituted or nonsubstituted aryl, a substituted or nonsubstituted heterocyclic group or R<SP>3</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>form a substituted or nonsubstituted heterocyclic group with an adjacent nitrogen atom) or its pharmaceutically permissible salt.
