PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable toilet for solving problems of a conventional portable toilet wherein a patient has to rotate the patient's body at least at 90 degrees as rises up from a bed to stand by himself/herself, while the patient may lose balance and fall down. SOLUTION: The portable toilet 1 placed beside the bed 10 is used by a user as the user moves to the toilet bowl by himself/herself or with assistance of a care-taker to seat himself/herself at a prescribed position. The portable toilet 1 is of a straddling type with a handle 2 for sitting at one end 1b opposite from the end 1a on the riding side of the portable toilet, and the user is seated on the toilet seat, facing the handle 2 for sitting. With this structure, the user, sitting on the bed, can seat himself/herself on the toilet seat only by sliding the user's body forward, without standing up by himself/herself.
