PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for sterilizing natural lawn protection boards for safely disinfecting lawn pathogenic Pythium genus fungi adhering to removed natural lawn protection boards. SOLUTION: This method for sterilizing the natural lawn protection boards (A) comprises washing in water with high pressure the natural lawn protection boards (A) removed from an athletic field in which natural lawn is planted, accumulating the boards on a wooden pallet 2, laying the pallet on a metallic pallet 5 followed by transporting to the vicinity of a water tank 60, attaching a lifting lug 6 followed by lifting the lifting lug 6 with a crane, throwing the boards into the water tank 60 filled with 65°C hot water, taking out therefrom once followed by throwing again, soaking the boards in hot water for 180 s, lifting the boards with a crane again after soaking in hot water followed by putting on the ground, detaching the lifting lug 6 and the metallic pallet 5, transporting the wooden pallet 2 to a drying place, detaching the natural lawn protection boards (A) from the wooden pallet 2 and arranging the boards one by one to dry and sterilize. It is possible to let all of the lawn pathogenic Pythium genus fungi adhering to the natural lawn protection boards (A) perish through using the sterilizing method. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
