PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method of a membrane filter which can shorten a period of time required until a permeation flux reaches the target permeation flux at the beginning of water supply. SOLUTION: In the operation method of a membrane filter, water supply to a filtration membrane 31 is started at a permeation flux F<SB>1</SB>higher than the target permeation flux F<SB>0</SB>, and then the permeation flux is decreased to the target one.
