The shelf has a coupling device to couple it to a holding member (30) to prevent it tipping or being removed. The coupling device comprises at least two receptacles (5,6) for receiving a respective holding projection (31,32). The first receptacle engages with the first holding projection to enable a pivot or tilt movement of the shelf about its longitudinal axis. The second receptacle, spaced apart from the first, engages with the second holding projection when the pivot or tilt is performed, and receives the holding projection so that the shelf is secured against tipping and being pulled out. Independent claims are included for a further shelf, and for a shelving system.
