<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording method by which recording is performed for a phase-change type optical recording medium in which high transfer rate can be performed and crystallization speed is fast at a low linear velocity. <P>SOLUTION: This is a method for recording mark-length-modulated information in the phase-change type optical recording medium by a pulse division method by which the light irradiation time of the recording light for recording the recording mark of the temporal length nT is divided in the order of [α<SB>1</SB>T, β<SB>1</SB>T, α<SB>2</SB>T, β<SB>2</SB>T, ..., α<SB>i</SB>T, β<SB>i</SB>T, ..., α<SB>m</SB>T, β<SB>m</SB>T] (m is natural number indicating the pulse division number. α<SB>1</SB>(1≤i≤m) is a real number greater than 0, β<SB>1</SB>(1≤i≤m-1) is a real number greater than 0, β<SB>m</SB>is a real number not smaller than 0). When a plurality of reading marks having different length are formed and divided making the number of dividing of pulses (m) constant, in relationship between an average value of the recording power PW<SB>i</SB>at time α<SB>i</SB>T forming the shortest recording mark Pw<SB>short</SB>and an average value of the recording power PW<SB>i</SB>at time α<SB>i</SB>T forming the longest recording mark Pw<SB>long</SB>, the recording light having an increased recording power PW<SB>i</SB>for recording the shortest mark is applied so that (m) satisfying the following relationship exists. Pw<SB>short</SB>>Pw<SB>long</SB>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
