<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium capable of obtaining electric characteristics that are equal to those, such as jitter and noise, of an information layer formed on a substrate for the information layer formed on a spacer layer, and a manufacturing method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: An irregular pattern is transferred onto a surface at a side opposite to the substrate 12 in the spacer layer 16 in a shape, where the width of a projection in the diameter direction is limited to 53% or higher and 72% or smaller to an irregular pitch in the diameter direction.
