<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fibrous activated carbon that does not reduce the adsorptivity of a low molecular weight, low boiling point organic compound even in the coexistence of moisture, and to provide an exhaust gas treatment apparatus using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The fibrous activated carbon with excellent adsorptivity is obtained using a fibrous activated carbon of which the specific surface area is 700-1,500 m<SP>2</SP>/g, the total pore volume is 0.3-0.7 cc/g and the amount of functionality is 0.5 meq/g or less. Further, the desorption method to effciently effect the desorption of the low boiling point organic compound is obtained by making the degree of the opening of a valve for introducing desorbing steam and the introduction time variable and gradually controlling the flow rate of the desorbing steam. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
