<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination control device for a vehicle enhancing the visibility of a following vehicle for the door opening motion of the vehicle concerned in the nighttime. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicle door is fitted with a courtesy lamp to be lighted up when the door is opened. The lightness around the vehicle is sensed using a con-light sensor. A navigation device is used to sense the road on which the vehicle is running at present is a major trunk road or an urban street having a comparatively large traffic amount. In case the lightness around the vehicle is a certain width lower than the specified and the situation does not meet the conditions of a major trunk road or in an urban district, the lighting brightness of the courtesy lamp when the vehicle door is opened, is maintained as usual; in case the above conditions are met, the lighting brightness of the courtesy lamp when the vehicle door is opened is made higher than usual. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
