<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a cellulose acylate film having small optical anisotropy and small change of optical properties due to heat and humidity; a polarizing plate-protective film having no surface defect and performance change, and good processing suitability and durability during preparation of a polarizing plate; and to provide a liquid crystal display having a wide viewing angle and high display quality by using the polarizing plate using the protective film in the liquid crystal display. <P>SOLUTION: In the cellulose acylate film, the absolute value of Rth at 25°C and an RH of 60% is 25 nm or less, and the difference between Rth at 25°C and an RH of 10% and Rth at 25°C and an RH of 80% is 40 nm or less, wherein the Rths are calculated from the formula: Rth=ä(nx+ny)/2-nz}×d, wherein nx is the refractive index in the slow-axis direction within the plane of an optically anisotropic layer; ny is the refractive index in the fast-axis direction within the plane of the optically anisotropic layer; nz is the refractive index in the thickness direction of the optically anisotropic layer; and (d) is the thickness of the plane of the optically anisotropic layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
