<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure excellent pedal feeling even during a returning operation of a brake pedal by a simple structure in a hydraulic brake device to power-assist a master piston via an auxiliary piston by a power-assisting device. <P>SOLUTION: In a hydraulic brake device, an auxiliary piston 20 having a large diameter part (21x) with the effective sectional area larger than that of a master piston 12 and a small diameter part (22x) with the effective sectional area smaller than that of the master piston, is disposed behind the master piston.
