PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain information of a focus state at need during manual focusing operation, without inviting an increase in cost and in weight. SOLUTION: In information for displaying the focus state of a photographic lens in a focusing assist device (drive unit 3) used for the photographic lens 2, provided with a focus lens 10 moved in response to manual operation, the focusing-assist device includes an information-generating means 12 for generating display information displaying change of the focus state accompanying the movement of the focusing lens, and an output means 36 for outputting the display information on a display means.
