PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a noncontact type rotation angle detector capable of reducing magnetic hysteresis of a sensor output to a rotation angle to secure linearity, capable of reducing a size of a permanent magnet, and capable of reducing a cost. SOLUTION: This rotation angle detector for detecting a rotation angle of a measuring object rotatable around a rotary shaft 2 and having the permanent magnets by a rotation angle sensor 9 in the rotation angle sensor 9 having a magnetoresistance elements is constituted to arrange the the permanent magnets 5, 6 symmetrically with respect to the rotary shaft 2 of the measuring object 2, and to arrange magnetic substances 7, 8 between the rotary shaft 2 and the magnetoresistance elements.
