PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a cylindrical core easily and inexpensively while suppressing iron loss. SOLUTION: In the process for producing the cylindrical core of a cylindrical linear motor comprising an armature composed of a field consisting of a permanent magnet and a yoke on one side and an armature consisting of an armature winding and a core on the other side, a cylindrical split core is produced by winding a thin planar core part 2 spirally, at an arbitrary angle, around the outer circumference of a tubular pipe 4 of nonmagnetic body, the thin planar steel plates 2 are laminated in the radial direction of cylinder while winding spirally with the start point being shifted by an arbitrary angle on the outer circumference of the cylindrical split core to obtain a cylindrical core having a required diameter, and then the opposite ends are machined to produce the cylindrical core.
