PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cultivating yam facilitating cultivation work, and also increasing crop yields. SOLUTION: This method for cultivating yam comprises the following process: making ridges formed of culture soil obtained by mixing field soil with fully matured farmyard manure; providing a drainage mechanism under the ridges; providing watering equipment at an upper space of the culture soil; and providing vine-training equipment above the watering equipment so as to ensure an appropriate space taking account of working efficiency and ventilation hindrance. The drainage mechanism comprises a coarse fragment-charged trench (grooved equipment) and a water-permeable pipe provided at the bottom part of the trench. The vine-training equipment comprises a net supporting prop raised at the ridge side, upper and lower two supporting materials each horizontally projecting toward the upper part of the ridge from the prop, an overhead wire attached to the upper supporting material, and a vine-training net hanging on the overhead wire.
