An apparatus for growing plants which includes a supporting framework (2); a plurality of tray racks (3, 4) supported in two or more vertical stacks upon the framework (2); and a plurality of feed trays (5), each feed tray (5) being adapted to support growing plant material and to be supported upon one of the tray racks (3, 4); the framework (2) and the tray racks (3, 4) being adapted to move each feed tray (5) progressively from a start position at or adjacent the top of the framework (2) to a finish position at or close to ground level, wherein each tray rack (3, 4) is pivoted to the framework (2) and is pivotable between an initial position in which the tray rack (3) supports a corresponding feed tray (5) and an inclined position in which the tray rack (3) is inclined downwards and aligned with a lower tray (4) rack such that each said feed tray (5) may be moved by pivoting downwards the tray rack (3) supporting that feed tray (5), to allow the feed tray (5) to slide or roll onto the next tray rack (4), the empty tray rack (3) being returned to its initial position by a return means. |
