<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase change-type optical recording medium which shows a uniform reflectance intraperipheral distribution after an initial crystallization; enables overwright recording at a recording linear speed of 10×(35 m/s) under the same capacity as DVD-ROM; and allows sufficient percentage modulation. <P>SOLUTION: In this phase change-type optical recording medium, (1) at least a first intermediate layer, a recording layer, a second intermediate layer and a reflective layer are formed in that order on a substrate. In addition, the recording layer is formed of an alloy having a composition represented by GaαSnβInγSbδ(provided, however, that α, β, γ and δ are an atomic ratio; 5≤α≤20, 2≤β≤20, 2≤γ≤20, 40<δ<80, α+β+γ+δ=100). Besides, the recording medium can record/erase data using a reversible phase change between the amorphous phase and the crystalline phase of the recording layer. (2) Alternatively, there is provided the phase change-type optical recording medium described in (1) having the alloy composition of 5≤α≤15, 5≤β≤15, 5≤γ≤15, and 55≤δ≤75. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
