摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase change-type optical recording medium which shows a uniform reflectance intraperipheral distribution after an initial crystallization; enables overwright recording at a recording linear speed of 10&times;(35 m/s) under the same capacity as DVD-ROM; and allows sufficient percentage modulation. <P>SOLUTION: In this phase change-type optical recording medium, (1) at least a first intermediate layer, a recording layer, a second intermediate layer and a reflective layer are formed in that order on a substrate. In addition, the recording layer is formed of an alloy having a composition represented by Ga&alpha;Sn&beta;In&gamma;Sb&delta;(provided, however, that &alpha;, &beta;, &gamma; and &delta; are an atomic ratio; 5&le;&alpha;&le;20, 2&le;&beta;&le;20, 2&le;&gamma;&le;20, 40<&delta;<80, &alpha;+&beta;+&gamma;+&delta;=100). Besides, the recording medium can record/erase data using a reversible phase change between the amorphous phase and the crystalline phase of the recording layer.
