PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make braking proper at the time of crossing an opposite lane such as turning to the right. SOLUTION: When a vehicle detected in front of one's own vehicle is an opposite vehicle, an inter-vehicle distance L between one's own vehicle and the opposite vehicle is larger than a normal automatic brake starting threshold L<SB>1</SB>and not larger than an opposite vehicle non-blocking inter-vehicle distance threshold L<SB>3</SB>larger than the threshold L<SB>1</SB>, a starting threshold of automatic braking is made to an automatic brake starting threshold L<SB>2</SB>for turning right smaller than the automatic brake starting threshold L<SB>1</SB>, to restrain and prevent intervention of automatic braking during turning to the right, so that one's own vehicle can get out of the opposite lane quickly. Also, even when the right turning is not completed and one's own vehicle remains in the opposite lane, the automatic brake starting threshold is set to the automatic brake starting threshold L<SB>2</SB>, and the inter-vehicle distance between one's own vehicle and a preceding vehicle positioned at a right turning destination is reduced, so that one's own vehicle can get to out of the opposite lane.
