PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving a plasma display panel with which brightness and efficiency can be enhanced. SOLUTION: The method for driving the plasma display panel comprises: a step for alternately applying a sustaining pulse to each of sustaining electrode pair for sustaining discharges by selected cells for a sustained period; and a step for initiating discharges for inducing long path discharge between the sustaining electrode pair between any one of the sustaining electrode pair and a data electrode by supplying a pulse signal synchronized with each sustaining pulse to the data electrode.
