PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiving apparatus with enhanced communication quality suitably applicable to a case such as real time communication for IP phones employing a VoIP technology. SOLUTION: A transmission side quantizes values on the basis of relative differences among a plurality of samples in a postdate and antedate relation, divides data generated in time series in response to the result of the quantization, includes the result of the division to a prescribed transmission unit signal and transmits the resulting data to the receiving apparatus. The receiving apparatus includes: an adjustment propriety discrimination means for discriminating the propriety of amplitude adjustment in response to a value of the amplitude of a signal waveform denoted by the decoding result of the generated data contained in the transmission unit signal; and an amplitude adjustment means for transmissively passing the signal waveform when the adjustment propriety discrimination means indicates the result of discrimination that no amplitude adjustment is required or for performing prescribed amplitude adjustment processing, adjusting the amplitude of the signal waveform and passing the signal waveform whose amplitude is adjusted when the adjustment propriety discrimination means indicates the result of discrimination that amplitude adjustment is required.
