PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum type washing machine of which the washing performance is increased by improving the structure of a lifter which is arranged in the axial direction on the inner peripheral surface of a rotary drum which is set in a manner to be tilted upward to the front side so that the putting in or taking out of laundry can easily be performed. SOLUTION: Each lifter has a structure that the projection height gradually decreased by a gradient corresponding to the tilting angle of the rotating drum from the rear end toward the front end of the rotating drum. The upper end section of each lifter has a corrugated structure, and a large number of mountain-shape sections and valley-shape sections are arranged by a fixed pitch, and a large number of water jetting holes are formed on the mountain-shape sections and the valley-shape sections. Also, in the lifter, at least one partitioning plate is arranged, and the inside of the lifter is divided into two or more chambers.
