PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket of a light source apparatus for an endoscope which a light guide with a different diameter is freely inserted in and removed from. SOLUTION: The socket of the light source for the endoscope comprises an insertion slot to receive the light guide, a main body of the socket which is equipped with two or more supporting body installing sections disposed radially around the above insertion aperture, and two or more supporting bodies which are respectively installed in the above supporting body installing sections, wherein each the supporting body which is fixed to the main body of the socket through a rotation shaft has a first peripheral surface to support a light guide with a small diameter, a second peripheral surface to support a light guide with a large diameter and a stepped touching section which is formed at a boundary between the above first peripheral surface and the second peripheral surface. The light guide with the small diameter which is inserted in the insertion aperture 7A is supported by the above first peripheral surface, and when the light guide with the large diameter is inserted in the above insertion aperture, the light guide with the large diameter which touches the touching section is pushed into the above touching section to rotate each the above supporting body around a rotary shaft so that the light guide with the large diameter is supported by the second peripheral surface.
