A first mobile terminal (1) has a communication in progress with a second terminal (2) according to a first communication service at least via at least one base station (2) of the access network of a first sub-system. A condition for the transfer of the communication to at least one base station (20) of the radio access network of a second sub-system is detected in a radio network controller (11) of the first sub-system. A core network commutator (12), which is linked to the radio network controller (11),of the first sub-system is informed of said detection of a communication transfer condition. If the second sub-system cannot process the communication according to the first communication service, a service change is requested so that said communication can be continued according to the second communication service.
