摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an axial gap rotating electric machine that achieves functions as a reluctance type and a permanent magnet synchronous machine by a constitution that is compact in size in an axial direction. SOLUTION: The axial gap rotating electric machine comprises a rotor 1 and a stator 2 that are opposed to each other in the axial direction with a gap in-between. The rotor comprises permanent magnets 11 that are arranged with directions of their magnetic poles directed to the circumferential direction of the rotor, and alternately arranged with rotor cores 12 in the circumferential direction with directions of the magnetic poles of the adjacent permanent magnets disposed to be mutually reverse. By this configuration, the N-pole and the S-pole are alternately formed on an opposing face between the rotor and the stator, and resistance in a magnetic path wherein the permanent magnets pass through becomes large compared with resistance in a magnetic path wherein the permanent magnets do not pass through, thus achieving the functions as the reluctance type and the permanent magnet synchronous machine by the constitution that is compact in size in the axial direction.
