PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-phase step-down type rectifier which prevents the pulsation of DC output by lessening the load range of its current intermission state without enlarging a DC reactor. SOLUTION: This three-phase step-down type rectifier is equipped with a three-phase AC power source 1, a rectifying circuit, and a reactor 5 connected to its output side, and executes its operation while switching a first operation mode where it supplies load 7 with DC power via the rectifying circuit and a reactor 5 from the power source 1 and a second operation mode where it supplies the load 7 with DC power from the reactor 5. This is equipped with a switching element 12 which can short-circuit both ends of the reactor 5, and this replaces one part in the period of the original second operation mode with a third operation mode where it short-circuits the reactor 5 by the switching element 12 thereby elongating the period of the third operation mode more the less the current flowing to the reactor 5 is.
