PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress vibration of a reel lock due to rotation of a tape reel in a tape cartridge. SOLUTION: This cartridge is provided with a housing (12), a reel (14) rotatably disposed in the housing, a reel lock (38) being operative between a first position in which the reel is locked and a second position in which the reel is unlocked. one of the housing (12) or the reel lock (38) having an insert (58, 76, or 82) which is sized and shaped to fit closely into a receiver (60, 478, or 84) and slidable in the receiver and the other of the housing or the reel lock having the receiver (60, 78, or 84), and a damper operatively coupled between the housing (12) and the reel lock (38) when the reel lock is in the second position.
