PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foam glass grain which can be used for cleaning water, air, soil, etc., improving the environmental atmosphere, adsorbing and removing harmful substances, etc., or as a plant cultivation bed and enables easy formation of a hollow part inside the grain through firing, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The foam glass grain 1 has a structure wherein the hollow part 2 is formed inside a granular body 5 of waste glass. The granular body 5 is obtained by adding a binder and a foaming agent to a glass powder and granulating, heating and expanding the mixture. In the manufacturing method of the foam glass grain, a granular core body 3 having a prescribed diameter is formed beforehand, the glass powder containing the foaming agent is deposited around the core body 3, heated and expanded, and the hollow part 2 is formed inside the granular body 5 at a position corresponding to that of the core body 3 through firing.
