PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly correct the variation of clamping force, to precisely correct the clamping force, to reduce costs by reducing the number of components, and to prevent the complication of the constitution of a die and its surroundings. SOLUTION: The closing point Cs of the die 1 is detected based on the variation of a physical quantity caused by closing of the 1, and the position of the cross head 3 of a toggle mechanism L is detected when the closing point Cs is detected. A closing position detection mode for obtaining the closing position of a movable platen 2 at the closing point Cs from the detected position of the cross head 3 is set up. By implementing the closing position detection mode in advance, a closing position obtaining target clamping force Fm is set up as a standard value Ds. During production operation, by implementing the closing position detection mode, a practical closing position (detected value Dd) is obtained, and the clamping force Fm is corrected based on the difference Ke between the detected value Dd and the standard value Ds.
