PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-object measuring apparatus, capable of measuring the length and the number of long objects, such as medicines aligned in a single row, regardless of their sizes or kinds. SOLUTION: One end of long objects is positioned by a first reference member, and the other end is positioned by a second reference member. The long-object measuring apparatus is provided with a resistor circuit comprising a plurality of serially connected resistors, with a resistor on one end connected to a constant voltage power source and a resistor on the other end grounded; a detection circuit comprising a plurality of switches arranged along the long objects at regular intervals with one ends being connected between the adjacent resistors and the other ends being connected to detection terminals; and a switch driving means provided for the second reference member for turning the switches on. Voltages at the detection terminals of the detection circuit are measured, and the length or number of the long materials is computed on the basis of the voltages. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
