PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of transmitting a signal without the need for increasing the number of cables by the number of channels of a solid-state imaging element with a plurality of channel outputs so as to prevent the cable diameter from being increased, and to provide an electronic endoscope system employing the imaging apparatus. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is configured to include an imaging section 1, and a control / signal processing section 2 connected to the imaging section via a cable 3. The imaging section provided with: a CCD 4 with 2-channel outputs; first and second CDS circuits 5a, 5b for processing the outputs; a changeover means 6 for switching outputs of the CDS circuits and providing an output to the cable; a pulse generating means 8 for generating a drive pulse for the CDS circuits on the basis of a reset pulse of the CCD transmitted through the cable; and a switching pulse means 9 for generating a switching drive pulse on the basis of the reset pulse and a horizontal drive pulse. The control / signal processing section provided with: an analog signal processing circuit 10; a CCD drive means 11 for generating the CCD drive pulse; and a timing signal generating means 12.
