Apparatus for manufacturing a sealing ring of resilient material, e.g. rubber, having a rigid re-inforcement, e.g. a metal shell, bonded to it, comprises mould sections 1, 2 and 3, sections 1 and 3 defining a mould cavity, in which the radial web 5 of a rigid shell is located. The sealing ring is moulded from material 11, Fig. 1. To prevent the escape of moulding material between the web 5 and the gripping portions of the mould sections 1 and 3 a resilient ring 9 which deforms as the sections are closed together, is mounted in the annular cavity 8. The resilient ring 9 may be replaced by a rigid metal ring, mounted in the cavity 8 on metal springs or bonded to a ring of resilient material.
