A regulating valve for limiting to a desired maximum level the vacuum supplied to a vacuum operated load from a source of varying vacuum comprises a vacuum chamber B having a source and load ports 9, 10 and a valve seat S surrounding an atmospheric port, a valve closure V mounted on a diaphragm 24 for movement toward and away from the seat, pneumatic spring means including a chamber 25 responsive to the vacuum in the chamber B tending to draw the closure away from the seat, and a mechanical spring 36 tending to urge the closure on to the seat with a substantially constant force. The spring 36 is in tension, adjusted by a screw 37 and held against rotation by a finger 42 while the diaphragm 24 is of neoprene-impregnated nylon and carries a washer 29 which fits within the valve seat. The valve is fitted with a filter 42 in the form of a porous elastic garter. The Specification gives dimensions, details of performance and resonant frequencies for the valve.</p> |
