A separator for battery and a power generating element for battery from which a battery having both excellent battery properties and high liquid electrolyte leakage preventive properties can be prepared and a battery having both excellent battery properties and high liquid electrolyte leakage preventive properties are provided. In other words, a separator 10 for lithium secondary battery comprises a crosslinked material layer formed on a porous material and has a gas permeability. Further, a power generating element 20 for lithium secondary battery comprises at least the separator 10 for lithium secondary battery, a positive electrode 3, and a negative electrode 4.
