According to the invention, the device comprises: an element ( 21, 40 ) which possesses a stepped quadrant having a first convex surface and at least one second convex surface, each defining an angular sequence, which are connected to one another by means of a stop surface, a pawl ( 32 ) possessing a tooth ( 35 ) capable of following each convex surface until it comes to bear against a stop surface, and means making it possible to pivot the pawl ( 32 ) in order to release the tooth ( 35 ) from a stop surface, so as to cause the seat to change from one angular sequence to the next sequence.
