The material strip (02) to be divided longitudinally passes over a guide roller (01) with a sintered surface (10) with micropores (03). The roller is held in bearings (14) at the ends and has a supply connection for the fluid under pressure (13). The cutting knife (05) is circular with a sharp edge extending into a circumferential groove (15), to make a longitudinal slit in the strip. The knife is held on a bearing (18) on a beam (19) which allows lateral adjustment.
