[Also in Division B3] A deep hole drill comprises a hollow shank 3, a boring tool 4 screwed into the shank at 5, and an axial passage 7 for supplying pressurized oil to radial passages 6 and 7a. Oil is supplied through passages 6 to a portion 3a of the shank to provide an oil-pressure bearing. Spring- urged balls 12 are provided in valve seats 10, so that when each of the balls passes through the workpiece the respective passage is closed by the ball to prevent escape of oil. Oil also passes through passages 7a so as to cool and flush the tool 4. |
