PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metallic material in which deformation is hard to occur even under the condition where a difference in thermal expansion is wider than that at the time of room temperature operation in a fluorescent display tube, and deformation caused by a difference in thermal expansion with that of glass generated at the time of firing is reduced, and to provide a fluorescent display tube in which the production process is facilitated, and the emitted light quantity to be leaked can be suppressed by using the metallic material. SOLUTION: The metallic material is used for the inside of a fluorescent display tube, and has a composition composed of Ni, Cr, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The average thermal expansion coefficientα<SB>(25-150)</SB>at 25 to 150°C is≤65×10<SP>-7</SP>/°C, and the average thermal expansion coefficientα<SB>(25-400)</SB>at 25 to 400°C is 105×10<SP>-7</SP>to 120×10<SP>-7</SP>/°C. Regarding the composition, the content of Ni is >37 to 39 mass%, the content of Cr is >4.5 to 7.0 mass%, and also, the amount of (Ni-Cr) is <32.5 mass%. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
