PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable carriage of printing paper to be carried out in high resolution even when a low-cost low-resolution encoder is used. SOLUTION: A recorder is provided with a carrying motor 107 for carrying recording form, encoders 116, 117 for detecting a rotational position of the carrying motor and a control part for stopping the motor at a point of time when a specific time shorter than a time from detecting one slit of a slit plate with an encoder for detecting the next slit has elapsed after the encoder detecting one slit of a slit plate 116 for detecting a position.
