The invention relates to a quick-acting valve actuator comprising: a driven member driven by a drive device suitable for causing the driven member to travel along a stroke to a trigger position; and locking-and-trigger means co-operating with the driven member and the actuator member so that: during the stroke, the actuator member is stationary, and the driven member is moving; and when the driven member reaches the trigger position, the driven member is held stationary, and the actuator member is urged by prestress means to open or close the valve.
