This invention relates to a safety needle pack to prevent needle stick injuries. The safety needle pack comprises a hollow needle (3), a needle hub (7) surrounding the hollow needle (3), a slidable sleeve (5) slidably mounted on the needle hub (7) and a pack (35) surronding the needle (3), hub (7) and sleeve (5). The slidable sleeve (5) is adapted to slide between an extended position in which the injection end of the needle (3) is located inside the slidable sleeve (5) and a retracted position in which the injection end of the needle (3) projects from the slidable sleeve (5), via an intermediate position between the extended position and the retracted position in which the injected end of the needle (3) projects partially from the slidable sleeve (5). The pack (35) is releasably monted on the needle hub (7) and slidable sleeve (5) such that the injection end of the pack (35) covers the tip of the needle. By causing the pack (35) to be moved towards the syringe (2), the pack (35) retracts the slidable sleeve (5) from the extended position to the intermediate position. <IMAGE>
