Copper/zinc/aluminium catalysts (I) with Cu and Zn oxides as catalytic components and Al oxide as thermal stabilizer, in which the Cu/Zn atom ratio is less than 2.8 and the Al oxide component is at least partly in the form of an Al hydroxide sol. An Independent claim is also included for a method for the production of (I) by precipitation of hydroxide-carbonates or hydroxides from a solution of Cu and Zn salts with an alkali carbonate or aluminate solution (either of which contains an Al hydroxide sol), followed by separation, washing, drying, calcination and optionally reduction of the precipitate. |
