<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a target image through a small number of operations. <P>SOLUTION: Nine six pieces of image data recorded on a recording medium 42 are set as an object range, pieces of image data not more than images which can be displayed at the same time when listed among the pieces of image data set as the object range are set as pieces a1 to a9 of data to be displayed, and corresponding thumbnail images a1 to a9 are displayed in list display 121. When the thumbnail image a9 is indicated in the list display 121, a group of image data from the thumbnail image a9 to the final image data is set as an object range and data to be displayed are set; and list display data of the corresponding thumbnail image a9, and b1 to b8 are generated and thumbnail images a9, and b1 to b8 are displayed in list display 122.
