The transmission assembly comprises a shaft (12) for a propeller (13), an arm (11) for rotatably supporting the propeller shaft (12), a mounting element (18) attachable to the stern of a boat, and an articulated joint device for connecting the support arm (11) to the mounting element (18) in such a way that the support arm can execute combined movements of rotation in vertical and horizontal planes. An actuator (31) causes the vertical movements of the support arm (11). An annular element (27) is rotatably mounted about a vertical axis (y) on the mounting element (18) and carries hinge pins (29, 30) for mounting the support arm (11) in such a way as to allow it to rotate in a vertical plane. A splined shaft (25) is coupled in rotation to the annular element (27) and to a control bar (26) that is connectable to another actuator mounted on board the boat to bring about the rotational movements of the annular element (27) and support arm (11) in a horizontal plane. <IMAGE>
