PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein for detecting the malfunction of a resolver, the calculation processing for of the (sinθ)<SP>2</SP>+(cosθ)<SP>2</SP>has been executed with respect to signals sinθand cosθ, related to the rotational angleθof the resolver, causing a long processing time and a large load on the CPU. SOLUTION: By preparing a map which is capable of determination of the malfunction with a combination of sinθand cosθ, the determination is performed by mapping the combination of detected sinθand cosθ. Consequently, the processing becomes simpler and quicker, and the load imposed on the CPU becomes smaller. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
