An improvement in or modification of the invention described and claimed in the parent Specification consists in the provision, in lieu of a lug on the arm 28 and a detent on the wagon frame, of a latch 76, Fig. 1, pivoted to a lever arm fixed to the master trap door 5 and having a hook 77 to engage an abutment 78 on the hopper wagon frame to retain the door 5 open after the adjacent supported door 4 is released for closing by engagement of the roller 29 with the track ramp 31. During the final closing movement of the supported doors 4, 6 the door 6 releases the hook 77 from the abutment 78 to permit the master doors 3, 5 to close. In the form shown in Fig. 4 the master door 5 is retained in the open position after release of the doors 4, 6 by a hook 82, on a bellcrank 80 pivoted at 81 to the wagon frame, engaging a retaining member 83 on the door 5. A stud 84 on the bell-crank 80 is slidable in a slot 79<SP>1</SP> in an arm 79 pivoted to the adjacent supported door 4. As the latter moves to its closed position, after its release by the roller 29 and ramp 31, the arm 79 can pivot on the door 4 and slide relative to the stud 84. When the stud 84 engages the end 85 of the slot 79<SP>1</SP> further movement of the door 4 rocks the bell-crank 80 to release the hook 82 from the member 83. The latch 25 with its hook 26 for retaining the doors open may, in both embodiments, be pivoted to the door 4 so that the hook can engage a fixed point on the wagon frame. The member 30 would then be dispensed with. |
